You've Been Hugged - Free Printable

My two older kids have fallen in love with the fun holiday tradition of  "You've Been Booed" or "You've Been Elfed."  They have been asking me if we could start one for Valentine's Day.  After a quick search on Pintrest, I found that there was very little to choose from in this department for Valentine's Day so I came up with my own and wanted to share it with you.

I made the image black and white on purpose.  I am all into this fun idea of passing along a Valentine Hug, I just don't want to waste my colored ink on it.  {WINK!  WINK!}

To go along with our "HUGS" I made chocolate covered popcorn - one of my family's favorite.  Here's how I make mine.  I pop a ton of popcorn - like 5 big bowls full.  Then I sort out the popped from the non-popped kernels.  Next I butter and salt mine like I normal would because I love salty/sweet treats.  My aunt just barely gave me this tip and it makes a HUGE difference in the final product - so yummy!!!  Then I lay out wax paper on my kitchen island and pour out all the buttered popcorn in an even layer.

Then comes the fun part, I melt Wilton Chocolate Melts in red and pink.  (A quick tip, I melt them in a large Ziploc bag so I do not dirty up another bowl.)  After the chocolates are melted, I snip a very small corner off of the Ziploc and drizzle the chocolate all over the buttered popcorn.  I let the chocolate sit to harden up.  Finally the popcorn is ready for eating.

I bagged the chocolate popcorn in gallon size bread bags and tied with some cute Valentine's Day ribbon.  I have printed off my "HUGGED" sheets with instructions and now just have to wait for dark to deliver.

This is such a fun tradition to participate in.  I hope that your family will have as much fun as my family will tonight as we deliver our "HUGS" to our friends and neighbors.

Teacher's Post-It Note Stand - FREEBIE

The new school year is rapidly approaching and my little girl is starting to feel a bit nervous about entering the 2nd grade. She got her teacher assignment in the mail yesterday and she doesn't know her new teacher nor do I so her anxiety just bumped up a notch or two.

To help get her excited for school and her new teacher, I put together a little gift for her to take to Ms Thompson on the first day of school and now I am GIVING it to you as well.  This gift is so simple to make and only cost me $2.00 to put together.  All you need to do is download my file (see below link), cut out the image, frame it in an acyclic frame and add Post-It Notes to the outside of the frame.  As my daughter would say "Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!"  I bought the frame and Post-It Notes at Walmart for $1.00 each.

I also created it in 4 different colors so you can coordinate sticky notes, mix and match for more color or maybe you could be lucky enough to put your school colors together.

Firecracker - FREEBIE

I received an e-mail from one of my readers a few weeks ago wondering if it would be possible to come up with some sort of 4th of July firecracker Mod Podge craft.  I thought it was a great idea and knew that they would look great on my tablescape.  I had seen a few ideas floating around Pintrest and wanted to come up with my own spin.  Since I used coordinating paper, these little guys match my 4th of July word block perfectly.  They were quick and easy to make - especially since I made them right along side word blocks.

As a side note - when I was trying to find a wooden dowel large enough for this project, Lowes was the only store that carried 1" or larger so you may want to look there first.  I used 1 1/8" size for my firecrackers.

Witching you a Haunting Halloween! - Printable

Halloween is in full swing at my house.  Costumes have been picked out and purchased, candy has been bought and stashed away so we don't eat it all before Halloween, decorations are up and we are counting down the last 13 days until the big day.

Every year, I put together a big themed Halloween Dinner for my family and go all out on food and decorations.  I can't wait.  Since most of my dinner plans are already coming together, I decided to add to the celebrations by making  a Halloween themed lunch for them to take to school.  Nothing big, just a PB&J ghost sandwiches (using a cookie cutter with make these a breeze), orange yogurt with candy corn sprinkles and orange cheese balls -  a huge treat for my kids since we usually leave them on the shelves at the store.  I made a cute Halloween Treat Topper to finish off their surprise.

These treat topper can be used to top any treat.  However, I am partial to the orange cheese balls, they kind of look like small pumpkins to me.

Smartie Pants Printable

I was searching the blogsphere for a cute and fun treat to put in my kids lunch bag on the first day of school.  When I found this idea HERE, my search ended.   I had to remake the tags to better suit my needs as I needed more than just Kindergarten tags.

I printed, cut the circles out with a 2" circle cutter, taped some ribbon to the back and then glued the circles to some extra scrap book paper.  I like that I turned the tags into more a a treat topper to give my kids more Smarties.  After it was the first day of school and they had earned an extra treat.

Here's to Another Awesome Year - PRINTABLE

I needed to make a gift for a large group of young girls to give as a back to school gift.  I got the inspiration for this gift HERE and adapted it for my needs.  I just printed, trimmed and attached the tag with a large grade twine.  They came together fast and I was under budget - even better.

I think that I am going to double duty this gift and use it as my drink for my upcoming family Back to School dinner.

Valentine Gift Tag - You Melt My Heart

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, but I have one more gift idea for you.  This gift tag can go with so many ideas, but here are a few I came up with this afternoon.

Give a container full of chocolate candies.  Who wouldn't love chocolate on Valentine's Day and chocolate "Melts"

I also made some heart shaped Rice Krispy treats.  After I molded the hearts using the Wilton 6-Cavity Silicone Heart Mold Pan, I sprinkled colored Wilton Candy Melts over the top with a fork and topped with Valentine colored sprinkles.

Finally, using Wilton Candy Melts, I made free form hearts shaped suckers.  After I melted the candy melts, using a large spoon, I made a heart shapes over small sucker sticks.  And once again sprinkled with Valentine colored sprinkles.

I went with something different today and used toile to attach the tag to all my gifts.

Valentine Gift Tag - You Knock My Socks Off!

My kids love "crazy socks" as they like to call them so I decided it would be a fun gift for Valentine's Day.  I picked these socks up at the Target $1 Spot.  I had to go Batman for my little dude, no girly socks for him.  As for my daughter's there were too many cute ones to choose from so I closed my eyes and grabbed.  Then I printed, trimmed and attached the tag below with red raffia.  I think that I am in love with red raffia as I have used it quite a lot this Valentine season.  Embellishments have always been a weakness of mine.  I can't get enough of them.

Valentine Tag FREEBIE - I Was Soapin

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I have been working on my kids Valentine gift to their teachers.  I think that teachers deserve more than just a piece of candy on Valentine's - don't you?!?!  Here is a quick, easy and inexpensive gift for teachers, friends or neighbors.

I went to my local Dollar Store to purchase my soap.  Then I printed, trimmed and attached the tags to the soap with red raffia.  Voila!  Simple to make and one more thing crossed off my check list.
